Answer: Panther History: Founded in 2022 by Rochelle Popyon and April Scott, co-founders of the Black Hockey Mommies Facebook group. The 2022 team competed in the Minnesota Showcase Hockey AAA Summer Showdown Tournament June 9-June 12, 2022. The roster consisted of 16 players (birth years 04, 05, 06), representing eight states: California, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, and Tennessee! Weekend activities included a private tour of the Minnesota Wild practice facility and a touching George Floyd Memorial site visit. Mission: Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment for players who are often the sole African American in their local hockey clubs and/or communities. We also want to showcase the talent of African American young men as ice hockey players, and encourage more African American children to pursue the sport of ice hockey; which is for everyone.
