Answer: Our mission is to improve the overall health of women and the safety of babies during pregnancy and birth. OBMedical has developed LABORVIEW Professional, an FDA-cleared external sensor system that provides accurate and wireless fetal monitoring in patients of all sizes. It is especially effective in situations where external monitoring fails due to a mothers higher Body Mass Index (BMI). LABORVIEW Professional is a simple accessory that can be plugged into existing fetal monitors that interface directly into hospital information systems. It displays fetal heart rate, maternal heart rate and contractions. By using the existing monitors, we reduce equipment costs and our single-use disposable reduces nurse time and can be absorbed into the existing operating budget. Fetal Monitors are used to detect fetal distress in most of the 68,000 labor and delivery rooms found in the US and Europe. Current monitors use ultrasound that requires constant nurse attention, do not work for overweight moms who represent 25% to 50% of all deliveries today and are not wireless. If the ultrasound cannot be used, a physician is required to screw a fetal scalp electrode into the unborn babys scalp during a very undesirable and invasive procedure. OBMedical is a privately held Delaware C Corp with offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Gainesville, Florida. The Company was founded in 2012 to commercialize technology developed at the University of Florida and has 14 employees and a variety of contractors and consultants.
