Answer: The Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (NW CASC) works in partnership to provide science that helps regional resource managers make climate-smart decisions around managing Northwest fish, wildlife, water and lands. The NW CASC supports research that improves our understanding of how climate change is likely to affect the Northwests natural and cultural resources and how science-based management can reduce climate risks to those resources. The NW CASC is a partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey and a Consortium of university and non-university partners. Our university-hosted office sits within the Climate Impacts Group at the University of Washington and works on behalf of a Consortium that includes the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians, Boise State University, Northwest Indian College, Oregon State University, Portland State University, University of Montana, Washington State University and Western Washington University. Our Consortium supports climate adaptation research through our Research Fellowship Program and our USGS-hosted office in Corvallis works with regional stakeholders to set research priorities and directs research funding to support climate adaptation in the Northwest. The NW CASC is one of nine regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers across the Nation. Together, the national network serves the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands and the U.S. Caribbean.
