Answer: New Hope Girls is a non-profit based in the Dominican Republic that is on a mission to rescue girls and empower women. Our 13-year-old organization has a variety of functions that exist collaboratively to break cycles of exploitation and usher in a cycle of empowerment. We have a safe home for young girls who have been rescued from dark and difficult places. As they enter into refuge we walk with them in hope and healing, caring for them as we do our own daughters. We provide trauma-informed therapy, educational support, opportunities for play and art therapy, and surround them in love. We have a workshop in which adult women are employed as artisans and earn a living wage in a safe, supportive and healthy environment. This social enterprise serves as one of the prevention strategies of our organization. When mothers are able to earn a living wage in a safe environment the risk for exploitation is greatly reduced for both the mom and her children. There is also weekly outreach to educate and support the community through educating and mentoring to at-risk girls. This is how we help equip leaders within the community and also a way that we know who needs services and potentially rescue. It is our honor to walk with each girl and women in the steadfast conviction that they are #CreatedForMore!
