Answer: All lithium-ion batteries lose useful power over a lifetime of charge/discharge cycles resulting from the heat and electrochemical degradation of the organic (carbon-based) electrolyte materials in conventional lithium-ion batteries. These organic materials are also highly volatile, highly flammable and very toxic. NDE's inorganic liquids by definition resist heat, therefore even as an additive (a small percentage of inorganic material to replace the organic material), it slows the degradation of the electrolyte, leading to up to 50% more charge cycles. Also, because it is inorganic, it will not burn and is not volatile. The result is a dramatic improvement is safety. Finally, because of its thermal and electrochemical stability, NDEs inorganic liquid enables the use of higher energy electrodes leading to a battery with increased energy density. NDE is a Delaware C corporation and holds an exclusive license from Idaho National Laboratory for the issued patents protecting this new material. Today, NDE has begun manufacturing at its pilot scale manufacturer and is aggressively pursuing commercialization. A number of commercial companies are now conducting evaluations of the material in their batteries as a final step toward adoption. NDE is a member of the Austin Technology Incubator and the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator at SUNY Binghamton. AFWERX: Phase One/Phase Two (20.3)/2-Phase Two (23.4)/Phase One (23.5)
