Answer: The Near North Unity Program (NNUP) seeks to connect residents and stakeholders in our diverse community, enhance its growth, and improve the quality of life. Near North is defined by the following boundaries: North Avenue to Chicago Avenue, Wells Avenue to Halsted. NNUP was originated in 2010 by Alderman Burnett, CHA, LISC Chicago, the MacArthur Foundation and many participating community organizations, businesses and residents. The LaSalle Street Church now serves as the lead agency. Membership Community stakeholders meet monthly to identify and discuss community issues and goals and determine ways in which each part of the community can work together to implement strategies to address neighborhood priority areas. Priority Areas Youth and Families Safety Land Use and Development Employment NNUP Development and Sustainability Each priority area has a committee which members also participate in. Work plan committees initiate and implement projects, events and strategies that benefit the Near North through increasing cohesion and well-being of stakeholders.
