Answer: Na Kama Kais (Children of the Sea) mission is to connect our keiki with the kai (ocean) and nurture a deep sense of aloha and kuleana (responsibility) for their natural environment. We shape our communities and the future by helping our keiki make a connection that instills a sense of personal responsibility, respect for our environment and themselves by creating, conducting and supporting ocean-based programs, specifically targeting ocean safety and conservation awareness in order to empower youth and increase their capacity in the community. The unifying themes of culture, ocean safety, and environmental education are a part of every Na Kama Kai program and community outreach opportunity. Keiki Aloha, Kai Aloha Beloved Children, Beloved Sea This contemporary olelo noeau (proverb) serves as a continuous reminder that children are nurtured at the same time their love for the ocean is nurtured. Our mission is to create experiences that help every child make this connection and understand this reciprocal relationship with the ocean.
