Answer: Musical Bridges Around the World is a nonprofit arts organization with the mission to celebrate our shared humanity by providing access to global arts for all. We do this through our free public, educational, and senior programs and events. We focus on partnering with the City of San Antonio and other organizations to foster San Antonios reputation as a cosmopolitan cultural center. MBAW was founded in 1998 by Russian-born pianist, Dr. Anya Grokhovski and a group of avid music lovers. Anyas fiery passion for music, commitment to San Antonio, and connections to world-class musicians, provided a platform for the creation of an exciting new musical experience for the community. MBAWs current programming includes: - Russell Hill Rogers Musical Evenings at San Fernando Cathedral (free public concert series) - International Music Festival (free annual public concert festival) - Musical Sprouts (free educational program bringing performances and curriculum to Title 1 schools) - Golden Age (free concert series bringing concerts to senior communities) - The Gurwitz International Piano Competition (San Antonios quadrennial piano competition) - The Gurwitz Youth Ambassadors (Young local talented pianists representing The Gurwitz in the community through local educational/community performances and talks.) - Colburn-Pledge Music Scholarship (Scholarship for college-age young professionals pursuing a performance career in a bowed string instrument.)
