Answer: We are a warm and welcoming Jewish home for all Jews and their families, serving those families situated in Syosset, Plainview, Woodbury, Bethpage, Jericho, Muttontown, and beyond. Midway Jewish Center is the place to meet your old friends and make new ones, to study and to pray, to celebrate in times of joy and seek comfort at times of sorrow. We are a congregational community that reveres tradition while incorporating progressive ideas and practices to maintain the time-honored values and rituals of the Jewish people. Women and men share equally in our religious services and those services are invariably conducted with a warmth and humor that resonates with Jews across the denominational spectrum. Our Religious School has the reputation for guiding our young people to a deeper understanding of their Jewish identity and they emerge with an ability to follow a traditional service and read from the Torah. Midway Jewish Center was reincorporated in 2007 as two synagogues, Bethpage Jewish Community Center (BJCC), which had served the Bethpage Jewish community for close to 50 years and Midway Jewish Center, which had served the Syosset and Plainview Jewish communities for over 50 years, consolidated to create the center of Jewish worship, study, and assembly that we are today. Because of our size, energy, and enthusiasm, Midway has the power to support a broad range of activities, yet is small enough to maintain a sense of intimacy. A balance of age groups, from young children to senior citizens, assures commitment to the needs of young and old alike. A core belief at Midway is that preservation of Jewish life requires both a committed Jewish family and a strong Jewish community. Thus, there is a strong emphasis on family education and involvement as well as communal religious observance. Services are held daily, morning and evening. As a progressive Conservative synagogue, Midway seeks to preserve a sense of tradition that continues to evolve. Homosexual and interfaith families have found a spiritual home for themselves at Midway.
