Answer: Founded in 1934, MBREA is steep in tradition, yet contemporary in our approach to serving our members. The association's leadership is reflective of our membership, with both residential and general appraisers serving on the Board of Trustees. This diversity allows MBREA to identify and meet the needs of its equally diverse membership. MBREA's committees form the backbone of the association in the areas of education, meetings, membership, designations and more. Education of appraisal professionals is a cornerstone of MBREA's mission. The association, as an education provider, secures approval of its courses and seminars from the appraisal boards of the New England states. Instructors are seasoned professionals, who have a demonstrated ability to teach and who possess a significant amount of practical knowledge. MBREA is the only state appraisal association that has been named a sponsor of the Appraisal Foundation. Our members have played important roles in the formulation of USPAP standards and the development of licensing qualifications. Our involvement continues today with a seat on the Foundation's Board of Directors and participation in Foundation committees. Appraisers who belong to MBREA may earn a professional designation from the association. A professional designation tells others about the commitment one has to professional growth and the quality of work performed. MBREA designations are RA for residential appraisers and MRA for general or commercial appraisers. An outline of designation requirements may be found under join MBREA.
