Answer: MARYLAND S.O.A.R offers a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) and a Supported Employment Program (SEP) to individuals actively engaged in psychosocial rehabilitation. Our PRP program provides community based, individualized support to minors and adults in need of additional wrap around behavioral health support to address areas of functioning that may be impaired or that require rehabilitation. We assist individuals living with mental illness to reach a higher level of independence and improve their overall quality of life by helping them and their families with accessing and coordinating services within the community. We support, advocate for, and empower individuals to reach their goals. PRP Staff will meet individual needs through one-on-one and group sessions, which can focus on: Social Skills Emotional and Physical Self-Care Independent Living Skills Symptom Management Community Living Skills Identifying Community Resources The goal of our SEP program is to obtain jobs for individuals with mental illness and help them retain those jobs through consistent training and coaching. The crucial component of the program is to give the individual the skills and confidence they need to successfully perform their job duties in an integrated and competitive environment, rather than simply doing the job for them. We pair each person served with a job coach, whose initial task is to negotiate with an employer regarding the terms of employment as well as the accommodations that will be provided for the employee. The job coach then transitions to become a hands-on support system, providing on-the-job training for the individual while they learn to navigate their specific job duties and build their role in their workplace. Eventually, the goal is for the employee to have developed a self-sustaining support system at their place of work, and the day-to-day assistance from their job coach take a backseat.
