Answer: The Lower Shore Land Trust (LSLT) Works with communities and landowners to conserve the rural heritage of Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset counties on the lower shore of Maryland. Since 1990, LSLT has worked to protect over 130 properties resulting in 25,000 acres of conserved land. Land conserved with a conservation easement remains in private ownership, and development is restricted. The conservation values of the land are protected by the terms in the conservation easement. A conservation easement is a deed, or agreement, between the landowner and the land trust which outlines the conservation values to be protected by the easement. These voluntary conservation tools help communities conserve working farms and forests, natural habitat and scenic landscapes.
