Answer: Listen Up is a Twin Cities based social enterprise working at the intersection of youth employment, civic engagement, and media production. We provide youth paid training in journalism, storytelling, and media literacy. We use a media justice framework to address the countrys lack of: 1) Representation of youth - particularly BIPOC, LGBTQ2S, low income, or female youth - in media, 2) Opportunities for young people to access and learn radio broadcasting skills, and 3) Robust or relevant experiences for youth to practice collective leadership and dialogue. We have a youth leadership board, a twice a week youth-hosted radio show, and summer & after school media programming. Our business offers youth-lead educational workshop, consulting, media production, and social media marketing services for classrooms, organizations, small businesses, and companies.
