Unconscious linguistic bias refers to our unintentional tendency to favor people who sound like ourselves, and to dis-prefer people who sound different from us. This has many negative effects, though it can be solved. Dr. Latterman's research shows, at statistically significant levels, that she is able to change participants' unconscious and conscious beliefs about language varieties. This means that there is a targeted, strategic way to diversity leadership teams and governance boards.
