Answer: Helping Texans Beat Leukemia through Patient Aid, Research, and Innovation. True to the mission of our founder, Buddy Minyard, 100% of funds raised in Texas, stay in Texas. Leukemia is an aggressive blood cancer that will affect approximately 3,400 new Texans this year. Traditional therapies (chemotherapy, radiation, & immunotherapy) can cost patients and their families tens of thousands of dollars out-of-pocket for life-saving treatments. If a more aggressive bone marrow transplant is required, costs can reach hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single transplant. Leukemia Texas supports Texans struggling with leukemia in two very distinct ways: 1) through the Patient Aid Program that provides crucial financial support to help leukemia patients offset the expensive cost of life-saving, leukemia treatments, and provide for basic needs, and 2) through funding of cutting-edge medical research towards innovative therapies and an eventual cure.
