Answer: We often take the freedom of walking on our own for granted, but for those with lower limb immobilities, walking is a dream. We, the LegTrek Company, aim to deliver that dream to help everyone walk empowered. LegTrek is a Santa Barbara based medical device company that delivers independence and empowerment through novel assistive robotic devices. Our pilot product is the LUMI, an integrated motorized gait trainer and power chair. The device supports the users weight in an upright position while providing mobility through a smart motorized system. This system grants the user the autonomy to walk around freely, with the option to conveniently switch to a power chair mode for resting. The device also has variable weight support, which allows the user to control how much of their own weight they want to endure on their legs. Lastly, the device has built-in powered gait assistance, which senses the users intent to move and seamlessly progresses along with them.
