Answer: Established in 1949, the Los Angeles Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association (LACBFFA) promotes the Southern California customs brokerage, freight forwarding and NVOCC industry as a whole. The LACBFFA takes an active role in organizing and participating in seminars, workshops and conferences which are relevant to its members and the industry. We also offer seminars and educational opportunities for the trade, including on entry topics such as Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS); Food & Drug Product Code Training; HAZMAT and training for new government programs, i.e. AES, ACE, etc. LACBFFA offers Customs brokers training courses & licensing exam review classes in the spring and fall. These classes give our members and other interested parties an opportunity to review Customs regulations in preparation for the twice-annual examination. LACBFFA holds monthly luncheons or dinners with guest speakers who address a full range of issues of concern to members and the events allow members to interact with each other in furtherance of their business objectives. Members can earn continuing education credits for the Certified Customs Specialist and/or Certified Export Specialist programs sponsored by the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) for all workshops and programs offered by LACBFFA. Members receive regular emails keeping them apprised of important notices and issues affecting their day-to-day business practices. CBP Public Bulletins and other materials are regularly emailed to members. Information relating to other Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) is conveyed to the membership. Our membership directory contains a complete listing of members and local government agencies, and Los Angeles and Long Beach terminal operators. This resource guide is complementary for members. It is distributed to local federal agencies, city and state officials. The directory is available to others at an additional charge.
