Answer: Keep Rockland Beautiful leads efforts to clean, protect, and beautify Rockland's environment by educating and empowering people to share in the care and stewardship of our communities. For more than 20 years our team has organized volunteer service projects that promote clean communities and a healthy environment, as well as educational programming for students of all ages. Our bi-annual cleanup campaigns engage thousands of volunteers to remove numerous tons of waste from local streets, parks, and waterways. Clean up on your own or join forces with your friends, family, classmates, or coworkers and make a difference in your community today! Earth BEAT, for students K-8, captivates students with a day of hands-on learning about local ecology, waste reduction, and energy conservation. Students experience fun, interactive eco-stations that make meaningful connections to class curriculum and state learning standards. All participants are encouraged to be responsible stewards of the environment and caretakers of their own health. Rockland PLUS introduces high school students to real-life planning issues and facilitates collaborative workshops to promote a community balance of social connections, economic opportunity, and environmental sensitivity. At the culminating symposium, students present their idea for local redevelopment and work with peers from schools throughout Rockland and with planning professionals to map out a vision for a selected site in the County.
