Answer: Edward Lewis RN, BSN, having provided over 20 years of skilled in-home services through Medicare Certified Home Health agencies, understood the need to support those clients with additional medical supplies and equipment. Many of the products needed to assist people to remain in their own home were not covered through insurance. In 2005, in order to meet this need, he purchased Kansas City Home Medical Supply. During the next 3 years, major changes occurred in insurance coverage and eligibility. Many suppliers chose not to continue, and fewer and fewer products were being paid for by insurance. The demand over the years has not decreased, but the available providers with experience of the supplies and equipment has decreased. The model we established early on is the same one we use today. In order to better meet the needs of our customers, we feel that it is important for our employees to better understand what the healthcare community wants their patients to obtain. Our staff include nurses and therapists who have experience in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living, and home health agencies.
