Our founder and most employees are former teachers, so education is at the heart of what we do, and it is why schools find Jupiter so intuitive and our support so insightful. Our mission is to: Help students learn more and learn faster with interactive, engaging content, and stay on top of their homework Help parents stay informed and involved in their childrens education Help teachers monitor their students progress, collaborate on curriculum, and spend less time on grading and data entry Help administrators make more informed decisions, and operate more efficiently on limited budgets Our founder and CEO is David Hundsness, a former middle/high school teacher in Silicon Valley. As a young teacher he was an early adopter of electronic gradebooks, but over the years he found all the gradebooks were still clunky and tedious. So in the summer of 2004 he decided to develop his own. At first I was just making the gradebook for myself, says Hundsness, but within a few days I realized all teachers could use something like this. He launched the gradebook as SnapGrades, which teachers loved enthusiastically, propelling it to the #1 web-based gradebook by 2009. By 2013 we had developed the SIS and LMS, and rebranded as Jupiter Ed. In 2018 we modernized the entire user interface and back end, and we are continuously advancing new features.
