Answer: Iqra Fund establishes high quality self-sustaining school systems in the remote, mountainous regions of northern Pakistan. We partner with local governments, community leaders, parents, and teachers to invest in long term student success, improving generational prosperity. As the only educational INGO in this socially- and culturally-conservative war-torn region, we are dedicated to empowering all students, especially girls. We envision a world where girls are more valuable as educated society members than they are working in the fields. They will be economically independent, in charge of their own fertility, and empowered to improve quality of life for themselves, their families, and their communities. They will be global leaders in mitigating climate change as champions of long term sustainable education. We serve remote villages in the Gilgit-Baltistan province of Pakistan. These marginalized tribal communities live primarily as subsistence-based farmers, with some additional income from trekking tourism. We partner with communities who request our support, providing access to education for both girls and boys, with a primary goal of ensuring 100% of the girls in these villages attend school. The children are often the first in their families to receive an education.
