Answer: IMPACT of Southern Arizona is a local non-profit that gives back to the community through multiple services including a Food Bank, Clothing Bank (Loving Threads), Youth Services, Senior Services, Resources & Referrals. Demand is continuously growing in Southern Arizona with IMPACT serving more than 500 families a month in 2017. As this demand grows new programs are established, mainly addressing educational and social needs. Some of the many services provided are: food packaging, meals, food delivery and clothing; parenting classes, money management workshops, teaching people how to repair credit and live within budgets. Through our job resource center people get help improving their resumes, making connections with local employers, and receive job interview tips. Our adult literacy/ESL classes also help make people more employable. Plans are underway to open a community computer lab and expanded job resource center. Many of the programs have been designed to help people improve their lives, rather than merely exist on an emergency assistance level. Our goal is beyond providing needed clothing and food. The program is intended to free up income that would otherwise be spent on garments, helping people afford to pay for groceries, utility bills, fuel, and rent. Reducing stress for the individual allows them to better focus on solving other issues in their lives and helping to provide family stability.
