Get started About Alex Roberts illustrious career began at A&M Records in the early eighties where under the watchful eye of Bob Riteman, (Sr VP of A&R) he ended up holding senior executive positions in A&R and marketing within the first 18 months of joining. Having opportunities in working with some of A&M's roster of leading artists, including Amy Grant, Sergio Mendes, Squeeze, and Sting, Roberts found himself establishing a serious reputation in the business. A&M's success sustained during the 1980s with noted acts that included: Janet Jackson, Atlantic Starr, The Police, Suzanne Vega, Oingo Boingo, Annabel Lamb, Bryan Adams, and Joe Jackson. Roberts hard nosed approach is what got the attention of Suge Knight the soon to be co-founder of a rap label which many disregarded even as an independent label. That label soon became a force to be reckoned with and in 1991 the inception of Death Row Records was formed. As the world embraced what many thought to be known as a fad or short ride, DRR founded by The D.O.C. Marion Suge Knight and Dr. Dre in 1991 set the pace for rap's top artists, The D.O.C. Tupac Shakur, Snoop Doggy Dog, Dr. Dre, The Dog Pound, Lady Rage to name a few. When long time record exec Alex Roberts left A&M Records to handle business affairs for the music industry's new found record executive Suge Knight, the label continued its spectacular rise to the top of the music industry selling in excess of 50 million units worldwide generating over $750 million in revenue.
