Decades after changing the American design world, Holly Hunt is channeling her vision and energy into a studio in service to clients who value the bespoke. The House of Hunt is at home with a new kind of living, working and doing business that is smaller in scale and larger in vision. Holly has always known how to make a house a home. In 1983, she opened the first Holly Hunt showroom in Chicagos Merchandise Mart and upended the old ways of presenting furniture. She offered an unprecedented gathering of multiple makers, which united a variety of design voices into a single point of view in a gallery-like environment. When she discovered voids in the marketplace, she designed and made furniture, lighting and textiles herself. Her relentless pursuit of precision and sophistication redefined American luxury interiors. Because so many people wanted what Holly was selling, she established a design studio within the company with a focus on materials, proportion, and craft. Their first project was the redesign of the Little Nell Hotel in Aspen, followed by residential projects from Miami to Chicago to Aspen to Los Angeles. Holly sold her eponymous brand to Knoll in 2014, and continued on as CEO and then consultant through 2019. Now Holly is making a new home for herself. She has assembled a team of trusted collaborators, architects and designers who will build with her a new kind of maison, an atelier for the 21st century: the House of Hunt.
