Answer: Hogs Head consists of Hogs Head Golf Club (HHGC) and the Lodge at Hogs Head. The golf course is newly designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. (RTJ) and gets its name from its location on the Hogs Head peninsula (a marine bearing point marking the opening to Ballinskelligs Bay from the North Atlantic). The project was the inspiration of Mr. Tony Alvarez II and Mr. Bryan Marsal, to provide a place built by friends for friends who share the love, camaraderie and fellowship of the game of golf. The Hogs Head Golf Clubs founders directed RTJ to design a course that would possess certain key qualities including naturalness, variety, elements of classic design and strategy, combined with a fun walkable experience, capped off with a warm and friendly 19th hole. In terms of naturalness, Hogs Head Golf Club has the tremendous advantage of vistas capturing mountains in the background, the Finglas River flowing through the course, the majestic cliff holes overlooking the Ballinskelligs Bay and the charm of the seaside village of Waterville. This rich visual tapestry has been combined with a links feel offering a natural flow across the landscape. Hogs Head Golf course offers a variety of playing options and is divided into a Riverside Nine and a Seaside Nine, where both the river and sea play important roles respectively in the defence of par. The course from the tips measures 7,140 yards and is a par of 72 consisting of a core of five par 3s and five par 5s.
