Answer: Hocking Valley Community Residential Center (HVCRC) is located in Nelsonville, which is in the western portion of Athens County, Ohio. HVCRC has been in existence since 1993, and employs 27 staff members who come from a variety of backgrounds and who offer a wide range of skills. The Center was established under House Bill 812 that provided funds for the construction of multi-county rehabilitation facilities for juvenile offenders who would otherwise be committed to the Ohio Department of Youth Services. The Center is one of two staff-secured community corrections facilities in the state, and is at the forefront of creative programming for the treatment of juvenile offenders by providing comprehensive assessment and innovative programs. The staff at HVCRC are committed to ongoing innovation in programming for troubled youth with an emphasis on individualized treatment, family participation, substance abuse treatment, counseling, and positive recreational activities.
