Answer: Hearts Alive Village Las Vegas is a 501(c)3 animal rescue whose mission is to nurture a compassionate society where animals are supported both in their homes and on their journey to find a home. HAVLV aims to reduce the number of animals entering the shelter system by promoting owner retention with programs that provide pet food, veterinary care, and training assistance. We have an adoption center and pet supply store located in the center of Las Vegas. There is no sales-tax as we are a nonprofit, and all proceeds go back into our life-saving programs. Next door, you'll find Oldies But Goodies, a senior pet adoption center and boutique thrift store. Fall of 2020, we will open the first nonprofit, low-cost, full-service veterinary clinic in Nevada. This clinic will service both our animals, and our community animals whose parents have been unable to afford veterinary care. In response to the pandemic, we have expanded Kendall's Kupboard, our pet food pantry, to become the Pet Food Disaster Distribution Center for Nevada. We currently feed more than 3,000 community pets each month, allowing them to stay with their loving families. In addition, we have saved more than 3,600 pets from being lost in the shelter system. Our other programs include working with Veterans to get them furry companions, a Chihuahua-specific program helping to protect the 2nd most over-represented breed in shelters, a kitten program that saves approximately 1,000 kittens each year, and human education so we can teach safety, responsibility, and empathy to the next generation. Together, we can improve the lives of animals in our community.
