Answer: The Hawaii Bicycling League (HBL), a 501(c)(3) non-profit incorporated in 1975, is the largest cycling organization in Hawai'i. Our mission is to promote bicycling for health, recreation, and transportation through advocacy, education, and events. Our keiki education program BikeEd Hawaii, is one of the nation's largest keiki cycling education programs. Since 1989, we've taught over 180,000 4th graders on Oahu. HBL also hosts Hawaii's two premier bicycling events, the Honolulu Century Ride and the Haleiwa Metric Century Ride. The Honolulu Century Ride is Hawaii's oldest and largest bicycling event, drawing annual crowds of up to 4,000 from Hawaii, Japan, and Mainland. The event uses a non-competitive bicycling style called Audax in Europesuccess is measured by the completion of the event, so riders of all ages and abilities can participate. The Haleiwa Metric Century Ride is safe, scenic, non-competitive bicycling event. This casual ride is a great opportunity for families and friends to spend time together and build memories while promoting a healthy lifestyle. The route takes riders along the beautiful beaches and communities of the North Shore. The Haleiwa Metric Century Ride has attracted more than 1,000 participants in previous years.
