Answer: At HART, we developed a creative way to fund our mission with an innovative model to ensure a long-term legacy for our animals. Small charitable organizations are finding it difficult to raise money for day-to-day operations to achieve their mission. Recognizing that long-term sustainability would require a way to supplement the donations given each year by people like you, Harts founders developed an innovative model to help fund the important work being done in Western Maryland to rescue, care for, and find adopting homes for pets. When the HART for Animals Center opened in 2014, it was the culmination of over 10 years of effort by many people. Included in the center are a full-service veterinary practice the Bredel Vet Clinic, a full-service dog and cat boarding facility the Bed N Bark Inn, and a dog groomer and day spa MuttWorks. HART for Animals also runs the Pick of the Litter thrift store which sells items donated by generous donors. The profit from these services is used to help fund the day-to-day operations of HART for Animals along with the generous donations from our donors, both large and small. This model helps us to ensure a long-term legacy for the animals in need of rescue and seeking their forever homes through our adoption center.
