Answer: The Harbor History Museum (HHM) opened its doors at its currently facility on Harborview Drive in Gig Harbor, Washington on September 18, 2010. It was the culmination of more than 10 years of dedicated work by the museum board of trustees, staff, and countless volunteers. HHM's mission is to create opportunities to bring the history of the Gig Harbor Peninsula to life by collecting, preserving and sharing the area's history. At HHM you will find top-rate exhibitions, larger than life experiences, and many opportunities for hands-on exploration of our region's rich history. Expect to find something new and different each time you visit the Special Exhibition Gallery, which will feature 3-5 original and traveling exhibits each year. HHM keeps the past alive through a wide variety of public programs, activities and restoration projects. From saving the 65-foot purse seiner Shenandoah to restoring the one-room Midway Schoolhouse, to teaching students the history of the Peninsula through our core education program the Midway Pioneer School Experience, the museum creates vibrant and changing opportunities for residents and visitors of every age. HHM's facility is also a one of a kind location for a conference and retreat facility; wedding and event venue.
