Answer: Habitat Waukesha builds decent, affordable homes with families who are unable to purchase a home through traditional methods. Habitat does not give houses away; we believe in giving a hand up, not a handout. By providing a home with an affordable mortgage, homeowners obtain self-sufficiency and break the cycle of poverty. We believe it takes a community to build a community, so we hope you will join in supporting our mission. Partner families contribute "sweat equity" hours per adult to take the place of a down payment. Volunteers contribute time and talent to reduce labor costs. Our ReStore revenue, sponsorship, and donations help to reduce construction costs. Founded in 1989, Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County built 32 homes in its first 29 years. In 2019, Habitat plans to dedicated 3 homes and celebrate our 30th Anniversary as an affiliate and the 5th Anniversary of our ReStore. With the help of generous donors and supporters, we continue to make the dream of homeownership a reality in this community. Habitat Waukesha is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
