Answer: Green Cell Foam is a unique natural packaging material. Available since 2002, Green Cell matches the performance of petroleum based foams while providing customers with an eco-conscious, biodegradable alternative made from cornstarch. Our goal is to replace polystyrene, polyurethane, and polyethylene in single-use packaging for thermal insulating or shock absorbing applications. KTM also provides design, testing and fabrication services for our customers at its Lansing, Michigan facility. We have helped our customers replace undesirable Styrofoam coolers in the pharmaceutical, specialty food and nutritional supplement industries, preventing over 1 million Styrofoam coolers from filling landfills across the country. Additionally, many automotive and electronics companies have successfully integrated Green Cell into their packaging, reducing in-transit damage and demonstrating environmental stewardship to their customers and employees. Manufacturing Green Cell Foam requires 70% less energy and produces 80% less greenhouse gases than petroleum based foams. It is also backyard compostable/biodegradable and water soluble (ASTM D6400 and BPI certified). The primary raw material is U.S. grown, non-GMO cornstarch, an annually renewable resource.
