Answer: Grand Seven Detroit (G7D) is bringing much needed HEALing to a formerly blighted community in NW Detroit. They were initiated in 2013 by Harvest Christian Church, who has been actively serving this community for 80+ years now. In just 4 years, G7D acquired a total of 36 properties, most of which have been drastically improved. They have been renovated, cleaned up, or torn down to make room for a neighborhood park. This has greatly increased the level of HOPE in the neighborhood. In 2017, G7D was awarded $650,000 through the Affordable Housing Program in order to transition 6 more newly remodeled rentals to the list. But we are not just renovating houses. Our vision is to create vibrant, thriving communities in the Grand Seven Neighborhood. Weve identified Seven Keys to Neighborhood Success, and are offering services like financial education, computer training, and interview/resume coaching to help families establish a solid foundation to move forward. We look forward to the day when every family in our neighborhood feels secure in their home, relaxing on their porch, watching children play, believing in a brighter future.
