Answer: Our mission is simple. We partner with, promote and preserve Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites. Our army of around 6,000 volunteers through our network of over 50 chapters statewide works to care for some of Georgia's most important treasures. With approximately 25,000 members and generous donors, we support Georgia's natural and cultural resources through volunteer efforts and direct financial support. Our volunteers help with traditional volunteer activities such as trail maintenance and facilities upkeep. But we go way beyond these activities. For example, our Chapters in Action program has provided direct funding for almost $1,000,000 in direct financial support to help replace a fire suppression system, upgrade climate control systems for treasured artifacts and to construct new bridges on hiking trails. Our volunteer chapters play critical roles in helping their respective sites meet basic needs for facilities and services while also helping the parks become more sustainable. Our members and donors come from all across the country and many varied backgrounds. The one thing they all have in common is a belief that Georgia's state parks and historic sites must remain protected and preserved to leave a legacy for future generations. With their support, we work hard to accomplish these goals.
