Answer: Freedom House has served Bureau, Henry, Marshall, Putnam and Stark counties since 1983, providing both domestic and sexual violence services. All services are free and confidential. Freedom House maintains a 24-hour crisis line 800-474-6031 for immediate access to all services 365 days a year. Domestic Violence Program: The domestic violence program provides crisis intervention, shelter and supportive individual and group counseling to victims and their children. Sexual Violence Program: The sexual violence program provides crisis intervention, supportive individual and group counseling, and assistance in medical and court settings. Legal Advocacy: Legal advocates assist clients attending court in Bureau, Henry, Marshall, Stark and Putnam counties. Advocates provide supportive counseling and assist clients with Emergency Orders of Protection (EOP) and Plenary Orders of Protection (POP) as well as any other legal matter. Medical Advocacy: When a victim of domestic or sexual violence presents at the Hospital, nurses call Freedom House and our direct-service trained volunteers are called. While at the hospital, the medical advocates attend to the victim in whatever capacity she or he needs. For example, we offer a support system during the evidence collection kit or we can watch accompanying children while the victim has procedures done. Violence Prevention Programming: Violence prevention programming for both programs is presented for preschool through college-age in a variety of settings. Freedom House provides professional training and public education to the community on domestic and sexual violence at no charge. Volunteer Support: Many volunteers support our efforts in direct service to victims and their families, as support for community awareness events, in fund raising activities, and in helping throughout the shelter. If you are interested, please call and ask for our Volunteer Coordinator.
