Answer: The Foundation To Be Named Later (FTBNL), named after the Major League Baseball Trade Term, "player to be named later", was launched in 2005 by social worker, Paul Epstein and his twin brother, former Boston Red Sox EVP & GM and Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations, Theo Epstein. Foundation To Be Named Later invests in the next generation of emerging leaders through our Peter Gammons College Scholar program and supports the non profits that champion them. FTBNL raises funds and awareness for non profit agencies in the Boston and Chicago serving youth and families from disadvantaged neighborhoods. The signature fundraiser for FTBNL is the Hot Stove Cool Music Concert Series which celebrates music, baseball and giving. Headliners who donate their time and talent included Eddie Vedder, James Taylor, John Legend, Yo-Yo Ma, Common, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, Smashing Pumpkins and Cheap Trick. Each winter in Boston and summer in Chicago, FTBNL hosts the Hot Stove Cool Music series of events which include VIP parties, concerts and community service projects. FTBNL supports non-profit agencies chosen for their outstanding and innovative work with youth and families and invites them to nominate young people who are under resourced, have overcome tremendous obstacles and have high potential for their Peter Gammons College Scholarships, named for the Baseball Hall of Famer and founder of Hot Stove Cool Music; Peter Gammons. Each Gammons Scholar receives a circle of support including a mentor, a tuition grant and leadership training, events and education through the year.
