Answer: Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) is a wholesale power agency owned by 31 municipal electric utilities. FMPAs mission is to provide power that is competitively priced, reliable and clean, as well as provide value-added services for its owner-customers. Our members serve approximately two million Floridians. Each FMPA member is locally owned and operated, but they work together on common needs. For example, by coordinating the power supply needs of several communities, the utilities can build larger, more efficient power plants and share operating expenses, all of which reduces the cost of electricity. FMPA has six power supply projects. We supply all or some of the power 24 of our 31 members. Some cities do not purchase power from FMPA, but utilize other services from the Agency.
