Answer: Florida Bridge and Transportation, Inc. (FBT) specializes in the design of transportation related structures. The people at FBT have designed over 200 bridges. Our design experience includes all types of bridges ranging from low level water crossings to long span bridges over interstate routes. A significant portion of our projects include serving as a Specialty Engineer working directly for contractors. This unique experience enables us to be very familiar with constructability planning including construction methods and equipment sizes. We often work with contractors to redesign bridges to provide a Cost Saving Initiative Proposal (CSIP). Our traditional design projects include bridge replacements, widenings and new construction plus bridge inspection and repair projects. We have designed many miscellaneous structures including sheet pile walls, retaining walls, box culverts, bridge barrier retrofits, overhead sign structures and signal structures. Mark Niedermann, P.E. is the President of the firm. Mike Hebert, P.E., Juan Valenzuela, P.E. Bassel Kassem, P.E. are vice presidents. FBT is prequalified with FDOT in the categories of 3.1 Minor Roadway Design, 4.1.1 Miscellaneous Structures, 4.1.2 Minor Bridge Design, 4.2.1 Major Bridge Concrete, 4.2.2 Major Bridge-Steel and 5.4 Bridge Load Rating. We are more than just bridge engineers. We are seasoned project managers that approach each project from a holistic standpoint to make sure all aspects of the project are properly coordinated. In addition to designing transportation related structures, we have experience designing buildings, land development related structures such as gazebos and trellis structures, brick screen walls around subdivisions, and miscellaneous aesthetic structures for landscape/streetscape projects. We have experience designing with all types of materials including concrete, steel, aluminum, stainless steel, light gage cold formed steel, timber and masonry.
