Answer: EpaleX is developing a novel inhaled treatment for epilepsy and migraine. The treatment for the first time provides a way for patients with epilepsy to gain control over their seizures. When a seizure warning sign (aura) occurs, the patient will be able to prevent the development of a full-blown seizure through the use of a pocket nebulizer to deliver a powerful antiseizure medication that rapidly enters the brain and stops the seizure. The effect of the drug dissipates within minutes, allowing the patient to resume normal daily activity. The inhaler is also used to stop migraine attacks that are refractory to currently available migraine treatments.
