Answer: History The ELCI was first established in Monmouth, Oregon in 1986. Over the last 30 years, it has helped many international students from all over the world to succeed in American high schools and universities. Thanks to the support of our partners and our students, we were able to open our second center in Albany, Oregon in 2012 on the campus of Linn-Benton Community College. Mission Statement The mission of the English Language & Culture Institute (ELCI) is to assist English language learners in increasing their knowledge of the English language and American culture through intensive, semi-intensive, and language and culture programs. The primary focus of the ELCI mission is to prepare post-secondary and secondary age students to gain admission to, and succeed in U.S. universities and high schools, respectively, through the Intensive English Program (IEP). Teaching Philosophy -Individual attention to each one of our students! We know every one of our students. Our classes are small and we also provide one-on-one tutoring from our professional teachers! Our students are able to improve rapidly with our supportive teachers and staff. -Environment makes a big difference! Our dedicated teachers motivate our students with real-life materials. Students use English not only in class but also outside of school in our fun weekly activities. We believe that practice makes perfect and that learning can and should be FUN! ELCI Monmouth Center ELCI was established in Monmouth in 1986. We have a long history of helping thousands of international students from all over the world succeed in American high schools and universities. Our classes are small and each student can get individual attention from their teachers. ELCI Monmouth is right next to the campus of Western Oregon University. Our students can use the university facilities there including the library, private study rooms, and bookstore. For a small fee, students may use the gymnasium and swimming pool. ELCI Albany Center Beginning in December of 2012, the English Language & Culture Institute began a partnership with Linn-Benton Community College. With our partnership with LBCC, students at ELCI Albany have the opportunity to enter into the Oregon University System by attending LBCC and then transferring to their school of choice. ELCI Albany is located on the campus of Linn-Benton Community College (LBCC). ELCI students not only receive the college student ID card, they also have full access to all the college resources, including the Learning Center, the library, computer lab, and gymnasium.
