Answer: Education in Action is a non-profit organization based in Providence, Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide hands-on learning opportunities that educate and inspire youth for real world success. Located in downtown Providence, Education in Action provides a state-of-the-art educational facility where students can truly experience the joy of learning. Founded in 2008, Education in Action has served nearly 24,000 greater Rhode Island youth to date. Exchange City is Education in Actions hallmark program. This program transitioned from being managed by a national non-profit to being facilitated by Education in Action when the organization began in September of 2008. The majority of the local steering committee members have continued on to serve as members of the Education in Action board of directors, while most Exchange City staff became a part of Education in Action as well. This transition has allowed the new organization, Education in Action, to better manage all financial contributions and assets as well as re-organize the allocation of its resources. Since Education in Action was formed, we have expanded our programming to not only include Exchange City, but also the Providence Transition Academy and Exchange City after school. The Providence Transition Academy is provided in partnership with the Providence School Department and is a workforce readiness program for Providence graduates. In collaboration with Providence After School Alliance (PASA) Education in Action launched after school programming in the fall of 2010. Since then, we have expanded our after school program into other districts including West Warwick, Cranston, & Central Falls.
