Answer: The Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation is a leading not-for-profit in Houston that provides funding for brain cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center and UTHealth Houston as well as pediatric initiatives, including chronic illness, palliative and hospice care, at Childrens Memorial Hermann Hospital. Every spring, the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation holds their 5K race, Run for the Rose, which supports brain cancer research and pediatric initiatives, recognizes brain tumor survivors, and remembers loved ones lost to this devastating disease. Current brain tumor patients, with thoughts to future patients, are our first consideration when we award funds. Our money is used to expedite treatments from the lab to the patients by developing new drugs or combinations of drugs, by starting or enlarging clinical trials, and by funding cutting edge technology. Among all three institutions, we have directly supported more than 30 laboratories and touched the lives of innumerable patients. Our Run for the Rose provides considerable peripheral benefits: a community of support and inspiration to patients and their families, a community of hope. No patient has to fight alone. Our funds remain in Houston and are available immediately to enhance patient care. Our funds are considered seed money. Every $1 donated generates on average $5 - $10 in federal funding and grant support. Donations lead to extended survival for many patients.
