Answer: OUR STORY CrossRoads church was born out of a vision to start a bi-lingual church on the north central side of San Antonio in late 2000/early 2001. The uniqueness of this call was there was already a building yet no congregation. Grace Wesleyan had closed its doors around ten years prior and the building had been rented to a small Christian group during this time. As this group faded, the Texas and Louisiana District of The Wesleyan Church (an evangelical Christian denomination) decided it was time to restart the church, or sell the property. As with many of our journeys in life, one connection led to another, and Pastor Bob Ellis and his wife Arlynn where invited to come and start a new church. After accepting the call to move from Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he had been serving as church planter and founding pastor of an Hispanic Church plant, Bob and Arlynn began the process of understanding the community and gathering a core group to start the church. The church started under the name El Centro Cristiano (The Christian Center). It was simple and short and an attempt to bring in both Spanish speakers and English speakers. The church started by hosting two services, a Spanish service at 9:00 and English service at 11:00. For whatever reason, the Spanish service struggled to get off the ground and the English service grew albeit slowly. After much thought and prayer, it was decided to cancel the Spanish service in 2005, and focus all the energy on the group that showed more signs of momentum. The time and decision then came to change the name. In the fall of 2008, El Centro Cristiano was officially renamed CrossRoads Church. Since the change, CrossRoads Church has steadily grown. In the first few years of the church, God was laying the foundation and the following years have been successful in establishing an identity as a vibrant church. We now have a campus in New Braunfels, Texas
