Answer: CDC pursues economic development projects, workforce development through the creation of construction jobs, and entrepreneurial support. CDC is working to develop its first mixed use development on CCIs land at 36th St. N. and Peoria Ave. This will have 7 commercial spaces with 3 market rate and 9 affordable housing units. Local entrepreneurs will be supported and/or trained to develop businesses in these commercial spaces. CDC also utilizes retail and housing construction projects to create jobs in our community. CDC utilizes the NCCER carpentry educational curriculum to train CDCs construction employees. NCCER carpentry certification is a nationally recognized certification that employees can use to demonstrate their carpentry skills and obtain higher pay, so CDC offers this training as a benefit to employees.
