Answer: Comprehensive Genetic Services, established in 1999, is the leading provider of clinical and laboratory genetic services in southeastern Wisconsin. Clinical, cytogenetic and molecular diagnostic laboratory services are performed in an integrated fashion in one location. The clinical practice includes prenatal diagnosis, evaluation of babies and children with birth defects, genetic counseling and stillborn examination. Prenatal diagnostic services include detailed fetal ultrasound examination, first trimester screen, amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Genetic counseling is available for parents of children with birth defects, prospective parents, and individuals at risk for familial cancers and other hereditary diseases. The CompGene cytogenetics laboratory serves several area hospitals and clinics. It performs chromosome analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization on all types of specimens. Genome wide CGH microarray analysis is available for patients with unexplained birth defects and mental retardation. The CompGene molecular diagnostic laboratory performs DNA tests for more than 60 genetic disorders and receives patient samples from all over the United States and other countries. Paternity testing is also performed. CompGenes chromosome and DNA laboratories are CAP and CLIA certified.
