Answer: Our mission is to aid in the sustained reentry of justice-involved individuals from correctional facilities back into communities across the US via training and employment in the coffee industry. Coffee Crafters Academy is structured as an innovative social enterprise that operates cafes inside of correctional facilities across the state of Ohio. We train facility residents to become certified baristas that create a variety of artisan, handcrafted coffee drinks to sell to other residents, staff and visitors. Once these residents are released from the correctional facility he/she is offered a job with Coffee Crafters (if available) or is connected with another employer working with individuals with high obstacles to employment. Services are provided to help them with the transition. Our vision is a world with more inclusive, supportive and forgiving communities that believe in the power of second chances.
