Answer: New Visions Foundation, founded in 1994 by Dr. Paul Cummins, is now the Coalition for Engaged Education. This change reflects the reality of who we are and what weve been doing over the past two decades, said Cummins. We have started schools, created and maintained programs that target at-risk youth, and worked to bring resources into severely threatened neighborhoods. But at the core, we are always working to connect youth with education that excites them and helps them build their respective futures based on that engagement. The Coalition for Engaged Education moniker will take effect immediately, and its programs, which have been running under different names for years, will be renamed as well. New Roads for New Visions, which works with juvenile-justice-involved youth, will now be known as C/ HOPE. The Coalition for Educational Opportunities, which works with foster youth from middle school through college and into careers, will be C/ FORWARD. Initiatives in Lennox, California, will be referred to as C/ LENNOX. Engaged Education has been at the core of his educational career since 1970, when Dr. Cummins was the lead founder of the nationally renowned Crossroads School in Santa Monica. Cummins then founded New Visions Foundation, which in turn founded New Roads School. Coalition for Engaged Education (c-youth.org) reflects the core value at the heart of all of its programs, the organizations history of partnerships and collaboration, and its desire to be a national leader in progressive education. Though the newly named Coalition has many programs, it has one vision at its core: to demonstrate to the world the power and effectiveness of Engaged Education.
