Answer: The Clark County Youth Shelter was founded in 1986 as an emergency residential shelter for youth ages 10 to 19 who are experiencing some type of crisis in their homes. We provide basic needs such as shelter, food, clothing, and 24-hour supervision, as well as auxiliary services such as counseling, drug/alcohol awareness, and educational services. Since our founding, we have added programs such as Safe Place Program, Family Education and Support classes, Anger Management for Teens, and Shoplifting Prevention to assist youth and families in Southern Indiana with needs and to provide skills to help get them back on track to lead productive lives. CCYS's Residential Program provides emergency short-term shelter to youth ages 10-19 who are in crisis. Youth receive shelter, food, 24-hour supervision, counseling, medical/dental care, recreation, transportation, tutoring, etc. Other programs offered free of charge to youth and families include Family Education & Support, Anger Management, Shoplifting Prevention, etc. General operating support will assist us in providing all of these programs.
