Answer: Clarence, Iowa, population 974 (as of 2010), is the heart of the historic Lincoln Highway. Located in eastern Iowa's richest agricultural land, Clarence is a Main Street Community. The Union Pacific Railroad runs parallel to the highway along the northern city limit. Interstate 80 is twenty miles south, and the Mississippi River is fifty miles east. We are at the center of five major cities that provide extended health care, education, cultural activities, sporting events, and recreational facilities. Some of the best hospitals in the United States are located within a short driving distance. Come see our replica of the Statue of Liberty, remodeled restrooms, and entrance lights at the City Park. A walking trail around the perimeter of the park with memorial lights and a metal bridge provides for pleasurable exercise. Two enclosed shelters, the Lions open shelter and an open shelter with kitchen are available for parties and reunions. A disc golf course is available at the City Park for your enjoyment. A Veterans Memorial has been completed to honor those who served our country and the Splash Pad is now open for hot weather enjoyment. Come see our Mural of the History of Clarence located on the side of the old City Hall building. Our Downtown Memorial Park is a pocket park with Memorial Clock as well as an original Lincoln Highway marker. "Clarence Welcomes You" signs greet you as you enter the city from the east or west along Highway 30. We have a high quality of life marked by clean air, a strong work ethic, belief in family values, concern for each other, cooperation, and a sense of pride. We feel that rural Iowa provides a good environment for all ages, especially for raising children.
