Created by Master Chocolatier, Jean-Paul (JP) Hepp and operated by him and his staff, their goal is to bring the finest and most beautiful chocolate confections to a clientele that is looking for more than the usual box of chocolates. Prior to their pursuit in making some of the best chocolate in the U.S., JP and his daughter , Eveline, both obtained degrees in Belgium at the University Antwerp in Biology (Ecology). JP applied his PhD degree in the pharmaceutical industry for over 23 years before venturing into the kitchen to make chocolates. Since 2012, when JP first opened his business, he has built a solid reputation in the gourmet chocolate industry, bringing his old world knowledge of Belgian chocolate making to a loyal and eager public at his two shops. JP is quick to lavish praise on his team, which consists of local artists (design, painting, sculpture, cuisine), who he says, allows us to deliver personalized product of high quality. This after all is our signature. Belgian chocolate is considered to be the gourmet standard by which all other chocolate confections are measured, and the accolades Chocodiem has accrued over time attest to its well-earned pedigree of excellence. Showcased in numerous profile articles (print and online), JP also had several of his recipes featured in Dishing Up New Jersey, a 2016 recipe anthology book by John Holl. In addition to their retail stores, Chocodiem also does catered events, with customized designs, and offers chocolate making (and tasting) classes.
